Transition Team News
Updated November 26, 2024
The Transition Team is a group of people who have been asked to do specific tasks related to a time of interim ministry at Knox-Metropolitan United Church. The Team has been meeting with Rev. Wayne Beamer, an Interim Minister located in Quebec, since August 2023. They have been asked to review and revise the governance structure for Knox-Met.
On Sunday, November 24, 2024 the Transition Team met with congregation members to take a first look at the proposed structure and receive feedback. You can see a copy of the handout from that meeting by clicking the button below.
The proposed structure will include a Church Council that has 11 members, including one representative from each of 4 sectors, a representative from the Ministry and Personnel Committee, and the called/appointed minister. Within each sector there is a possibility of having committees that are long-standing groups that work on recurring projects, or teams which come together for a specific task.
The Transition Team will be growing its membership by a couple of people in before January 2024 and will be connecting with currently existing committees at Knox-Met early in 2025 to get feedback on the details of the structure and how it could work. It is the hope of the Transition Team that the details can be brought to the congregation for approval in the late winter/early spring of 2025 along with an implementation map that will guide the transition from the current structure and governance by the Commission to the new Church Council.
